There are four science and technology drivers motivating construction of exotic beam facilities. These are 1. Nuclear structure and reactions, 2. Nuclear astrophysics and overlap with neutrino physics, 3. Fundamental symmetry tests, and 4. Applications of nuclear physics to medicine and society. In this talk the first three of these applications will be discussed with specific examples of recent progress and future prospects.
