New tools for nuclear spectoscopy: extending effective interactions with tensor terms and couplings beyond mean field

Mean-field calculations based on effective forces are amongthe most microscopic methods which are available for nuclearstructure studies at present. In this seminar, focusing on theSkyrme interactions, their capability to describe collective aswell as single-particle states will be very briefly reviewed.The impact of the zero-range tensor terms will be discussedboth in the static (Hartree-Fock) and time-dependent (RPA)calculations. Finally, we present some first results of acomplete self-consistent, second-order framework aimed atdescribing not only single-particle and vibrational statesbut also their full coupling
