The origin of the elements remains one of the most important questions in science today. Closely tied to this are questions of stellar burning and the fundamental characteristics of nuclei. This talk will address these questions directly. Specifically, this work addresses how heavy elements were formed and provides further constraints on heavy element nucleosynthesis. Experimental work will help constrain how heavy elements are formed in stellar environments. Experimental techniques of nuclear mass measurements will be discussed.
